Kaiser settles on treatment denied to members

California - According to the California Department of Managed Health Care, in a settlement announced May 25, 2012, Kaiser Permanente must provide medically necessary physical, occupational and speech therapy to members denied treatment since January 2009 and reimburse those who paid out of pocket.

Letters  are being sent this month (July 2012) to members who have filed complaints about denial of physical, occupational and speech therapy treatment.

This settlement will be featured in Kaiser’s Summer 2012 Partners in Health publication to reach members who are not identified but may be eligible.

Kaiser members must seek reimbursement before Jan 31, 2013.
